Homeowner Questions
Everything you need to know about rewiring.
Have a specific question not covered here? Feel free to call directly on 07495 333990 or WhatsApp us.
When is the best time to rewire a property?
The ideal time is during a renovation, extension, or before moving into a newly purchased property, allowing all first and second-fix cabling to be installed cleanly before final plastering and decorating.
How long does a typical house rewire take?
A typical 2 to 3-bedroom house rewire takes between 3 to 7 working days, depending on property size, cable access, and wall construction (e.g. brick, lathe and plaster, or studwork).
How much dust and mess should I expect?
Chasing channels into walls and lifting floorboards does create dust, but we take extensive measures to minimise it: we lay protective floor coverings, use dust-extracted chasers, and tidy and vacuum the work areas at the end of every day.
Can I just upgrade my fuse box without rewiring?
Yes, in many cases. If your cables are modern PVC wiring in sound condition, upgrading to a modern RCBO consumer unit with surge protection provides significant safety improvements without requiring a full rewire. We carry out pre-installation tests to verify circuit health before proceeding.
What certificates will I receive after the job?
Upon completion, you will receive an official Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) along with Building Regulations compliance documentation issued through NAPIT.
Do you cover my area in Cumbria?
Yes, we cover domestic properties across the whole of Cumbria. Open from 8am every day.
